Our responsibility to learners
ExamAcers (“ExamAcers”, “we”, “our” or “us”) is a Chennai-based provider of computer-based and online mock-test administration. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit examacers.in, create or use an account, purchase a test or package, take a test, review results, contact us or otherwise use our services.
We process personal information for specific and lawful purposes and seek to collect only what is reasonably necessary. This policy is intended to be read with our Cookie Policy and Terms of Use and to operate in accordance with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and rules made under it as their relevant provisions come into force.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use ExamAcers, we may collect:
- Identity and contact information: name, email address, phone number, state or city, age-related information where required, and parent or guardian details where applicable.
- Account information: account identifiers, verification status, password hash, preferences, selected examinations and account-security events.
- Purchase information: products purchased, price, coupon, tax and invoice details, transaction status, payment-gateway reference and refund or support history. Payment providers generally process complete card, bank or UPI credentials; we do not intend to store complete payment-card details.
- Test and learning information: chosen subjects, test attempts, answers, scores, time spent, progress, review history and related performance records.
- Communications: enquiries, feedback, error reports, complaints and other messages sent to us.
- Technical information: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language, referring page, timestamps, session identifiers and security logs.
Please provide accurate information and avoid submitting identity documents, health data or other sensitive information unless we specifically request it for a stated and necessary purpose.
2. How we use information
We may use personal information to:
- create, verify, secure and support learner accounts;
- process purchases, issue transaction records and provide purchased access;
- administer timed tests, save responses, calculate scores and present results and review information;
- remember examination choices and maintain learner progress;
- respond to enquiries, grievances, correction requests and technical problems;
- send transactional communications about accounts, purchases, tests, security or material service changes;
- improve question records, explanations, user experience, reliability and accessibility;
- detect fraud, account sharing, scraping, attacks and other misuse; and
- meet accounting, tax, legal, regulatory and dispute-resolution obligations.
Automated systems may score objective responses and organize progress information. These functions support test administration and do not determine admission to an educational institution.
3. Consent and other permitted processing
Where processing is based on your consent, we will provide a clear notice describing the information and purpose. You may withdraw consent through the method stated in that notice or by contacting us. Withdrawal applies prospectively and may make a feature unavailable when the information is necessary to provide it. We may also process information where permitted or required for delivering a service you requested, complying with law, responding to emergencies, enforcing legal claims or protecting the platform and its users.
4. Children and learners under 18
Some examinations served by ExamAcers are taken by school students. A learner under 18 should use paid services with the involvement and authorization of a parent or lawful guardian. Where applicable law requires verifiable parental consent before processing a child’s personal data, we will seek that consent and may request limited information needed to verify the consenting adult.
We do not intend to undertake tracking or behavioural monitoring of children, or targeted advertising directed at children. A parent or guardian who believes a child’s information was provided without appropriate authorization should contact us so that we can review and, where required, delete or restrict it.
5. Cookies and sessions
We use cookies, sessions and similar technologies for authentication, security, checkout continuity, test delivery, preferences and service measurement. See our Cookie Policy for details and browser choices.
6. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose only the information reasonably required to:
- hosting, database, security, email, analytics, customer-support and infrastructure providers;
- payment gateways, banks, tax or invoicing providers involved in a transaction;
- professional advisers, auditors or insurers under appropriate duties of confidentiality;
- government, regulatory, judicial or law-enforcement authorities where disclosure is legally required; or
- a successor in a merger, restructuring or transfer of the service, subject to applicable safeguards and notice requirements.
Service providers are expected to process information for the assigned purpose, apply appropriate safeguards and retain it only as necessary.
7. Storage and transfers
ExamAcers operates from India. Information may be stored or processed in India or in another jurisdiction where an approved service provider operates. Where information is transferred outside India, we will follow applicable transfer restrictions and use reasonable contractual and security safeguards.
8. Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the stated purpose, account continuity, purchased access, legal compliance, accounting, security, backup or dispute resolution. Retention periods differ by record. For example, transaction and tax records may be retained for legally required periods, while temporary session information normally expires much sooner. When information is no longer required, we delete, anonymize or securely isolate it, subject to lawful backup cycles.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, including access controls, secure password handling, request protection, monitoring, backups and service-provider review. No system or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your credentials, signing out on shared devices and notifying us promptly of suspected unauthorized access.
10. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law and verification of your request, you may ask us to:
- provide a summary of personal information being processed and relevant sharing information;
- correct, complete or update inaccurate or incomplete information;
- erase information that is no longer required or whose processing is not otherwise legally permitted;
- withdraw consent where processing depends on consent; or
- address a grievance or nominate another person to exercise applicable rights in the event of death or incapacity.
We may retain or decline to erase information where required for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, contractual claims or another lawful purpose. We may ask for information necessary to authenticate the requester and protect the account.
11. Communications
Transactional and security messages are part of operating your account and purchased services. Where we send optional promotional communications, you may use the unsubscribe method provided or contact us. Opting out of promotional messages does not stop necessary account, purchase or security communications.
12. Third-party links
Our pages may link to examination authorities, universities, payment services or other independent websites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and ExamAcers is not responsible for how an independent third party handles information you provide directly to it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy when our services, technology or legal obligations change. We will publish the updated version and effective date here. Where a change materially affects registered learners, we may also provide notice through the service or registered contact details.
14. Privacy requests and grievances
To exercise a privacy right, report a concern or request the current contact details of our privacy or grievance contact, use our Contact Us page. Please select Account or technical support and provide the email address associated with your account. We will acknowledge and address requests within the period required by applicable law.
